AuthorKAT Klein is an award winning educator and of all the places her career has taken her, her favorite place to be is in the middle of a group of children, writing for and with them. She believes the power of the written word can transform lives, and has always dreamed of becoming a mermaid. She grew up on the waterways of the Great Lakes and spent her childhood exploring Lake Huron on water skis behind a 13-foot Boston Whaler. She currently lives by the Saint Clair River where the wails of foghorns wake her up on misty mornings, and the thrum of freighter engines make the pans in her kitchen rattle. Her house is full of animals and Sams. Once in a while her son and husband (both named Sam) campaign to change her name to Sam as well, but so far, her favorite name is Mom. Although, after breaking her leg in a skiing accident, she kind of walks like a pirate, so if she ever does change her name, it will be probably be to Blackbeard. She kind of likes Blackbeard.
